Travel Experience to Dat Mui: Preparation, Schedule and Useful Tips for a Perfect Trip

Dat Mui, located in the southernmost part of Vietnam, is an attractive destination with wild beauty, rich nature and unique culture of the Mekong Delta. If you are planning a trip to Dat Mui, please join me in sharing my personal experiences, advice on preparation, schedule and tips for a memorable journey.

1. Prepare Before the Trip

Dat Mui has a tropical monsoon climate, with two distinct seasons: dry season and rainy season. The ideal time to travel is from November to April when the weather is cool, with little rain and favorable for outdoor activities.

Transportation

Going to Ca Mau
To get to Ca Mau Cape, you need to go to the center of the province, Ca Mau City, first (actually, you can go straight to Nam Can, but that will make the journey longer, you can stop in Ca Mau City to rest) and then continue the journey from there.

Personal Vehicle
Car

With a distance of about 300km from the center of Saigon to Ca Mau City, traveling to Ca Mau by private car will take about 8 hours depending on the route you choose. The most popular route (but not the shortest) is to follow the Trung Luong Expressway and then follow QL1A straight to get there.

Motorbikes
Similar to when traveling by car, the simplest and most convenient route is to follow Highway 1A. However, depending on your own plans and stops along the way, you can choose a route through the Western provinces as appropriate. Because motorbikes are more compact and mobile, they can travel on small provincial roads and routes that require crossing ferries without having to worry about delays like when traveling by car.
